The EU’s bilateral and regional cooperation with partner countries What’s in it for SRHR?

Sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) are a key part of people’s lives. When people, in particular women, youth, and people who live in marginalised settings, have full and equal access to SRHR, they can thrive, live healthy and fulfilling lives, and actively participate in the social, economic, political, and cultural lives of their communities. Access to and respect for SRHR are therefore critical for sustainable development in all regions of the world and the EU has the power to contribute to it through allocating much needed funding to the SRHR sector.

In this factsheet we look at a few successful examples where SRHR were included in national programmes globally and put forward recommendations for how the EU Delegations can ensure that SRHR-related objectives are implemented.
